Many dental clinics in Istanbul and other major cities treat international patients every day. Patients often mention modern equipment, experienced dental teams, shorter waiting times and the possibility of combining treatment with a stay in a vibrant city.

Cost is part of the picture for many people, but it should never be the only factor. The quality of the assessment, the materials used, the experience of the dentist and the aftercare plan matter far more to the long-term result than the price alone.

02Common Dental Treatments for International Patients

Dental care covers a broad range of services. The most frequently requested treatments include:

• Dental implants — titanium or zirconia posts that replace the root of a missing tooth and support a crown, bridge or denture.
• All-on-4 and All-on-6 — a full arch of fixed teeth supported by four or six implants, for patients missing most or all of their teeth.
• Veneers — thin porcelain or composite shells bonded to the front of the teeth to change their shape, colour or size.
• Crowns and bridges — caps that cover and protect damaged teeth or replace missing ones.
• Smile makeovers — a planned combination of treatments, sometimes called a “Hollywood Smile”.

03How Many Visits Does Dental Treatment Take?

The length of your stay depends on the treatment plan. As a general guide:

• Veneers and crowns are often completed in one trip of around 5–10 days, including the examination, preparation, temporary teeth and final fitting.
• Dental implants usually need two stages: the implant is placed first, then it is left to integrate with the bone for several months before the final crown is fitted. Many patients therefore plan two trips.
• Full-arch treatments such as All-on-4 may include temporary fixed teeth on the first visit and permanent teeth on a second visit, depending on healing.

These timeframes are only typical examples. Your dentist will confirm the number of appointments and the healing time needed for your case before you book travel.

04What to Prepare Before Your Consultation

A first review can often start before you travel. Preparing the following information helps the dental team understand your situation and give you a clearer picture of possible options:

• A recent panoramic X-ray (OPG) or CT scan, if you have one
• Clear photographs of your smile and teeth from the front and sides
• Your dental history, including previous implants, crowns or root canal treatment
• Your general medical history and any medications you take, especially blood thinners
• Your goals, concerns and preferred travel dates

05Materials, Guarantees and Treatment Plans

Different materials suit different situations. Veneers and crowns may be made from E.max porcelain, zirconia or composite, and implant systems vary between manufacturers. Ask which materials are proposed for your case, why, and how long they are expected to last with good care.

Before treatment begins, you should receive a written treatment plan that explains the procedures, the number of teeth involved, the materials, the expected timeline and the costs. It is also reasonable to ask how guarantees work and what happens if an adjustment is needed after you return home.

06Aftercare When You Return Home

Good aftercare protects your investment. Keep regular check-ups with your local dentist, follow the cleaning instructions you are given and ask whether a night guard is recommended if you grind your teeth.
